Shania Garcia (she/her)
I grew up near the Bend area and am excited for my new adventure in Portland! I am transferring to Portland State University to finish my undergraduate degree in family studies. I have 4 years experience working in Montessori preschools and am very excited and fortunate to continue my journey with Moss & Heart Montessori! I have enjoyed observing and working with children through these experiences and being able to support children throughout their development. It’s been such a rewarding journey fostering and guiding my young friends to grow, at their own pace and at their own developmental levels. The innate goodness within children is so empowering and contagious. In my free time I enjoy catching up and adventuring with my close friends and/or visiting my big family back home.

Jasmine Phillips (she/her/they/them)
As an early childhood educator with a Bachelor of Arts in Child Development, I have gained a deep understanding of the significance of the first six years in a child's life and the importance of the role played by family members, caregivers, and other people in a child’s inner circle. I strive to contribute to children’s lives in ways that foster independence alongside community, self-regulation, and the development of the whole child. During my time as a nanny and as a teacher in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms, I learned to balance meeting the unique needs of individual children with managing the flow of a group.
My interest in human development and how our childhoods shape who we become as adults led me to minor in Family Studies, as well as American Sign Language and Special Populations, in college. These studies contributed to my professional development and influenced my work in childcare centers, elementary schools, and private homes. From the time I learned about the Montessori Method in college, it has resonated with me and aligned with my approach to creating supportive environments for children to thrive. As caregivers in a child’s life, we have the responsibility to observe, create safe spaces, and model respectful, kind behavior.
I believe we are lifelong learners. From the time we are born, we are driven by our curiosity to explore, learn, and grow. Outside of work, I enjoy practicing yoga, playing the ukulele and singing, hula hooping, and traveling. I am passionate about contributing to a community that aligns with my values and centers around love, acceptance, and growth.
